Red Currants

"Discover the Burst of Flavor"

Red currants (Ribes rubrum), with their vibrant red color and tangy flavor, are a delightful addition to any diet. These small, translucent berries are not only visually striking but also packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants that can boost your health

A Symphony of Flavors for Every Palate!

Red currants are small, round berries that grow on shrubs native to Europe and parts of Asia. They are known for their bright red color and tart, slightly sweet taste. Unlike their black counterparts, red currants are often used in lighter, sweeter dishes, though they are just as versatile and nutritious.”

Harvest Season

“At Dee’s Nutz and Berries, currants are ripe for picking during the summer months. Typically, you can start harvesting red currants in late June, followed by black and white currants in July. It’s the perfect opportunity for a family outing to enjoy the sunshine and fresh berries.

Red currants are packed with polyphenols and vitamin C, which help fight oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. The high vitamin C content supports a robust immune system, aiding in the prevention of infections.  From their high antioxidant content to their unique tart flavor, these berries can elevate both your health and your culinary creations. Whether you enjoy them fresh, preserved, or incorporated into recipes, red currants are a fantastic way to add a nutritious and flavorful twist to your diet
